The magnificent Siyali Mahadev Temple is a must visit attraction in Manali, Himachal Pradesh. It is one of the oldest temples in this hill station. The shrine, famous for its beautiful architecture, is devoted to Lord Shiva. It holds immense religious importance for devotees of Lord Shiva. According to legends, the Shivalinga worshiped at this temple is self-manifested (swayambhu) and has been there since ages. Hence, it is highly revered by devotees of Lord Shiva. There is a small shrine behind the Siyali Mahadev Temple.

It is believed that Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati appeared on earth from the bark of a tree, where this small temple has been built. Mahashivaratri is one festival that is celebrated at this temple by locals with much fervor.

Architecture of Siyali Mahadev Temple in Himachal Pradesh

The architecture is one of the high points of the Siyali Mahadev Temple. Its architecture is a combination of chalet and pagoda architectural styles. The best example of this unique mix can be seen towards the top part of the temple. The former style has been used at the top front side of the temple while the latter has been used at the top back side. The shrine has a wooden structure with a strong foundation built with stones and cement.

There are four levels of pagoda in the temple that are located on one side, with the two smaller ones on the top of the other two levels. Its arches are supported by wooden pillars, which also hold up the main ceiling.

The frame of the entrance gate is intricately carved with the figures of men with bow and arrow, sages, animal heads, common men and designs of various flowers. The wooden roof of the temple is carved with beautiful floral designs. A thing to notice while inside the shrine is the antlers and horns of various animals hanging in its interiors.

Siyali Mahadev Temple Entry Fee and Timings

There is no entry fee to visit the Siyali Mahadev Temple. Devotees can visit the shrine as early as 6:00 am. The closing time of the temple is 7:00 pm. It remains open on all days.

Siyali Mahadev Temple is located on the Hadimba Temple road in Manali. It is about 10 minutes away from the popular Mall Road in Manali. Tourists can avail local transport services like taxis, auto rickshaws and rented two-wheelers to reach this shrine as well as travel around the town.

The nearest bus stand to the temple is the Manali Bus Depot, which is about 2 km away. Bus service to Manali is frequently available from nearby important cities like Chandigarh, Ambala, New Delhi, etc. The nearest railway station to this hill station is Joginder Nagar railway station, which is about 146 km away. The Bhuntar Airport is the nearest airport to Manali, which is approximately 50 km from the hill town.
