History of Manali
The town of Manali has an interesting tale attached to it. As per the legends, Vaivasvata Manu, who was the seventh incarnation of Lord Manu, found a small fish which asked him to take care of it with all love, devotion, and care until it grew into a huge one and in return, the fish promised him to return his favor in the form of incredible assistance.
Vaivasvata Manu did the same and decided to release it into the ocean once the fish was big enough to look after itself. When he was all set to let it go, the fish warned him about a situation in which the entire world would be submerged if he didn’t build a boat.
When Manu and other gods were stuck in the downpour, Lord Vishnu saved their lives by mounting them high in the air from the ground. As the land started drying, there came a position that was enough for life to begin again on earth and that’s when Manu made Manali his shelter.
He was so impressed with the overall beauty, serenity, and tranquility of this place during his period of wandering through the valleys that he decided to build a home for himself at this particular spot, which later got famous as Manu’s Home or Manu-alaya.
Since it was the first established abode of mankind in Manali, it was renamed Manali which, after several years, gained popularity as the prettiest hill station in India among holidaymakers from all over the world.
